Michael A. O'Hagan, PA attended SUNY New Paltz, where he graduated in May 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Biology, and minors in Chemistry and Math. In order to further serve the community and get more practice with emergency medicine and patient care, while attending college, Michael also volunteered as an EMT with New Paltz Rescue Squad. After graduation, Michael began working as an ER tech at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. In October of that year, Michael married his college sweetheart, Alisa. After working for a year as an ER tech, Michael applied and was soon accepted into the Physician Assistant program of his choosing: Long Island University — Brooklyn Campus, Brooklyn, NY. Having grown up on Long Island and having many relatives in Queens, as well as being a die-hard Mets fan, Michael enjoyed city life. A short 30 months later, Michael graduated from his program.
After passing his board exam, Michael returned to the HudsonValley area with his wife and their Scottish Terrier, Smitty. He began his Emergency Medicine Career at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. Not long after, Michael and Alisa welcomed their first son, Caleb, and four years later, another son, Owen. Michael was enjoying his career in emergency medicine but both he and his wife missed being near family which brought them to the North Country where Alisa is originally from. For several years, Michael worked at SMC Emergency Room in Watertown, NY, but with the addition of four more children (Abby, Sean, Caroline, and Wesley) a change was needed.
Michael has thoroughly enjoyed being at Family Medicine of Northern New York and his work with his patients. Although Michael felt like a fish out of water that first winter here, he soon acclimated to life in Upstate New York. He is an avid hiker and enjoys being outdoors with his children most of all. Michael enjoys baseball, especially the Mets, and coaching his children's little league teams. They are happily enjoying life together in Adams, NY.
